Bernie Mac dies at age 50

Mac, 50, had been hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A few years ago, he disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs.Jeremy Suarez, who played Mac's TV nephew in " The Bernie Mac Show," called Mac a mentor."He was one of the greatest role models in my life. . . . Working with Bernie wasn't like going to work. It was like going to school for comedy," he said. The service was brought home by Rev. Trunell Felder of New Faith Baptist Church International, who delivered the eulogy. He talked about Mac's private struggle with sarcoidosis and called him a "gladiator of gladness.""Bernie Mac gave us the gift of authenticity," he said. "You don't get authenticity too often in entertainment, in politics or, unfortunately, in the pulpit. Isn't it great that God put someone on this earth who wasn't afraid to be himself?"

This is actually old news, as it happened sometime before Saturday (not sure the exact date, as I have been unable to find it), but Bernie Mac -known and, in my mind, respected comedian- has passed away due to sarcoidosis (those who do not know what said sickness is, can read the meaning above). I have to say that the news is sad, I always found Bernie to be pretty damn hilarious and he was one of those few comedians who could have me laughing with just about everyline. Rest in piece, Mr. Mac!

Cheers,

Drew
