Code of Existance

Well, yet another novel has been started on my author`s page. Click on the title above and it will take you to the story.
For awhile now I have been itching to write a new Blaise/Draco. Turns out that last night Kavya posted a new challange on TDM: the murder mystery challange. Obviously I had to join, and I had the perfect story for it -the good thing being that three chapters of it were already written.
Code of Existance tells the tale of a murder whose motive will not become clear until the end of the story, hopefully. However, it is not just some mystery story: it tells a tale of redemption and love. It shows how the consequences of ones actions will always become clear, even if they come years later. It is also the love story between two men who are terribly afraid of what they feel, and what will be lost if they let themselves feel it.
Just to get you all interested in reading, below is an exceprt (sp?) of chapter four. Hope you like it ;) And go read chapter one!
Tucker shook away the blonde fringe that had fallen before his eyes, and made sure the fear was gone from his face before he spoke. “I’m fine. Do you want me to get my daddy?” He kept his voice as mature as a five year old can, clasping his small hands behind his back and not looking away from the man.

“No,” he shook his head; he hoped the kid would believe him. “I had a few papers I needed to get for work that your daddy accidentally brought home with him. But no need to bother him. I’ll just see my way out.” Without waiting for Tucker to answer, he turned towards the door and, opening it quickly, left the house behind. Hopefully Tucker Malfoy would keep his damn mouth shut.

The young Malfoy heir watched the door shut and the quizzical look appeared on his face again. He was tempted to tell his daddy, but decided not to: he had, after all, been taught to never comment on adult affairs.

Cheers,
Drew

August Rush

It is not often that I watch a movie and feel truly touched by it. But August Rush did the trick: it is a movie that will make you laugh, cry and feel just about a cocktail of emotions.

Freddie Highmore stars as a boy called Evan Taylor (aka August Rush) who was given up for adoption at birth. The boy has a a strong conectiong with music, and in fact he is considered a prodigy. The movie is the tale of him and his parents (Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Keri Russell) and the lengths they go to to reunite with each other.

Highmore does a wonderful job as the lead of the movie. Often in movies that have a child as their lead actor, I find myself disapointed in the acting: after all, not many kids are talented actors. However, Freddie manages to make you feel what Evan is feeling: you will laugh with him, cry with him, fear for him. You will feel elated for him in the final moments of the movie, and if the last scene does not pull at least one tear from you...well, then I consider you a very cold hearted person.

Meyers managed to entrance me perfectly with his accent. Yes, that is a pathetic thing to comment on but what can I say? I love irish accents! And Jonathan just always manages to pull me in with his. That said, he does a pretty damn well job in here. His acting was great: I will not say it was superb, for there were moments when some flaws could be detected, but he did good. He also managed to show off that he is not only a talented actor, but that he can also sing pretty damn well.

Keri does an excelent performance as Evan`s mother. Lyla Novac was told her son had died before she even gave birth, all thanks to a car accident. She has lived the past 11 years feeling that her son is still alive and out there. Confirmation of this comes when her father discovers he is dying and reveals the truth. From then on, the movie tells of her search for her son. She plays the role quite well.

Another great performance to point out is Robbie Williams: I am a fan of his, and I believe he did quite well here in what screen time he was given. Of course, there were moments where his performances were weak, but for the most part he did great.

However, there is one character that just steals the whole movie: the music. Whoever did the score for this movie did a more than wonderful job, and the music is just beautiful. It is surely the highlight of this excelent movie. I believe they won a few awards for the score, and they deserved them. Jamia Nash should also get a mention here: though the small girl`s acting was not good at all, her voice was breath taking.

Overall, it was a beautiful movie that I believe I could watch over and over without getting tired of. All three of the main actors are stupendous, as long as you can over look a weak moment here and there. It is just excelent! 10 out of 10 stars from me! Bravo!

Olympic News

Okay, this is going to be short post thanks to the pain I feel (read below). I will simply post some short news on the Olympic side of things, and all of it is related either to footy or basketball. So stop reading if you do not care about either.

First, footy. Argentina beat Brazil on Tuesday and now we are playing against Nigeria (right? I keep getting the country wrong...I know its spelt with an N at the beggiing though :P). I did not get to watch the match between Argentina and Brazil, but I am happy we won! Yay!

Today Argentina played The US of A in basketball. Obviously the US won. I do have to say proudly that we gave them a good game. The first quarter was horrible for us, but during the second and third we scored quite a bit and our defense was a lot better. We were not great, but we were not horrible either. We lost one of our key players at the very beggining, so this is an even bigger thing for us.

And that is all! Still in owe (sp?) over Phelps, as are most of my friends: he is the topic of the moment.

Drew

Pain = Unfun

Well, it has been a few days since I blogged, simply due to lack of time. School has been keeping me busy as hell, and what time I have not been spending on school work and studying has been spent on fooling around with friends in RL, though I did squeeze in some time for the bestest forums in the world: TDM.

Anyways, before I start posting about Argentina beating Brazil (yayayayayayayayayayayayayayayaya) at footy and then loosing against the US of A in basketball, I will fill you in on a few other more personal stuff first :D

Turns out my lil brother has decided he wants to be rebelious. He totally and completly refused to go to school today and is right now sitting on the rouf (that is soo not spelt right). So I climbed up to try to get him to come down. I was a bit lower than him so I stood up on a block to see him. Stupid me started making the block sway as I talked to him and...I swayed it a bit to much and it fell. Which means I feel.

Even though I am currently ready to cry from the pain, I have to admit it was hilarious: I was hanging on for dear life and if I had let go of the wall I would have surely broken something, if not else. And even though no SERIOUS enjuries were obtained, my arms are all cut up and bleading as is my left knee. My hands are sore and every single cut seems to be attempting to torture me. IT FUCKING HURTS A FREAKING LOT!!!

Other than that, not much to say. I could complain about the stupid chemistry teacher..and in fact, I will: we had a chemistry test last friday. Turns out only 13 people actually didnt fail it. The rest of the class did fail it. I was one of the lucky 13, as were the other three people I did the test with (cheating rocks, dosnt it!). However, the freaking stupid chemistry teacher decided that he was going to be nice: he didnt grade the tests, and is instead retaking it next friday. I mean, COME ON! I am sorry for the people who failed, and I think he is doing good at giving THEM another chance. But I DO NOT NEED ANOTHER CHANCE, I am fine with the B I would have gotten with this one! And I am not the only who said this, even some of the people who would have failed agreed: I want my fucking B!!! I never do good in Chemistry!! Or, well, I do when I copy from other people, but thats besides the point! See how unfair this is? I hate him. And the worst thing is that when I asked him about it, he answered with the "I am the adult so what I say is law" answer which always pisses the hell outta me. So...yeah.

Okay, very long post here. Ill cut it off here and go post about footy and basketball. Though I will say that Chapter Two of Dystopia is up and you should go read. Help me remember, my original oneshot, is about 2000 words in and no where near finished. I planed on writting today, but as I can barely type without going into spasms of pain, I do not think that will happen.

Drew

Fiction News

Ah, well, I decided it was time to write up some news about my writting. Mind you, there is actually a bit to say *shrugs*.

First off, I have decided to post up a -very- short story that I begun writting ages ago. It is a song fic in two volumes that goes with the song "Someday, Somehow" by Nickleback. Volume I has been submited into the queue, while I am now working on Volume II. It is a slash Sirius/James fic that I actually like the plot to.

At the same time, I was listening to the Rascall Flatts song a few minutes ago and have decided it is a great song to write a fic with. The song I am talking about is "Help Me Remember". I have not yet decided what it will be about, but it may be my first try at Original Fiction, something about the death Penelty. I am excited to write about it, just need to go re-read the rules to make sure what I have in mind will be okay.

Dystopia is now a co-written projetc. Jess/SBSL will be helping me write it, as the fic has too many characters and I just could not write them all at the same time, so she is coming onboard to help me write the story. It is a story that was begun ages ago, and I am very much excited to get it writting now. If sucessfull, it should end up giving a pretty great message. So look for updated either on my author page or on here!

I also do not want to let go of Cadence of His Cry, so I have asked Kate/Nagini to help me out. Jess is betaing it, but two betas never do harm and what I really need Kate for is plotting help. The story was going out of my hands, and I think I just got overwhelmed with the great coments on chapter one so I got scared I would not keep the story up and right.

Last, but not least, news on yet another oneshot. Yesterday is my first Remus/Cissy fic, and I love the plot! However, it is proving hard to write: I have been working on it for a month, and it is only 800 words in. I am hoping to actually get it done soon.

So, that is all for now. God, that was a lot!

The Dark Knight

I do not think I have seen such a great movie in a VERY long time. I loved it! I watched it over a month ago and I still cannot get over how great it was. I for one can also say that people raving over Heath`s performance has nothing to do with it being his last: I never had been a great fan of him, watched only a few of his other movies, and obviously did not have a crush However, I think his acting EASILY tops anything I have ever seen. His Joker was...wow. It was not hard to believe that the actor was truly insane; hell, it was easy to believe that this was the real fricking Joker. *aplauds*

Aaron as Two-Face did a great job as well. He was convincing and did the transaction between a nice old DA (cant remember the character`s name) to Two-Face spectacularly. Christian Bale was great too, as was Maggie Gyllenhaal (I always have loved her acting, so it was great to watch her here, as it had been awhile since I had watched her in anythine new), and everyone else! I do not believe any one single person did a bad job with their roles. However, they are all just over looked by the wonderfulness that is Heath as The Joker.

The movie is just wonderful. The action never stops (for those adrenaline junkies who just want action), yet the plot is there as well and is great. It even has a few scares (heck, I have to admit I actually jumped with the car blew up -if you watched the movie, you probably know what scene I mean, if not then you should not know what scene I mean and I am not going to spoil it for you even if it was a minor scene-) and even has time for some drama and some VERY sad moments.

Really, I could go on forever about how great it was. But it will be best for me to just summ it up in three words: I. REALLY. LOVED. IT. Oops, guess that`s four words. I give it 10/10 stars, and I am ordering anyone who has not seen it to go watch NOW.

The Nanny Diaries

Well, I watched this movie last night and found it quite enjoyable. The basic plot of the movie, for those who do not know, is of a college grad (Annie, played by Scarlett Johanssonwho is not sure of what she wishes to do with her life. When she saves a little boy (Grayer, played by Nicholas Art), she receives offers from many Upper Side (of New York) mom`s to become their nanny. One of these moms is Grayer`s own mother, Mrs. X (Laura Linney), with whom Annie begins work in the hope that the job will give her some time to step away from the real world and do some thinking. What she does not know is that dear Mrs. X is a very controlling woman, and that the job she has stepped into will almost be like hell on earth.

Now, despite some negative reviews I have seen of the movie, I liked it. I think Scarlett did a great job as Annie, and I could really connect with her in some of the emotional scenes with Grayer, though the opposite happened with her final confrontation with Mrs. X (if you have seen the movie you know what I mean with that); I do not know why, but that scene just felt flat in my opinion.

I enjoyed the journey that Laura`s character took throughout the movie, and I believe she was great in the role. She worked every one of her scenes convencingly, and it was easy to feel sorry for her even when you wanted to hate her. Seriously, I loved her in here.

The ending of the movie could have been changed quite a bit, and it was probably the one part of the movie I did not like. I would have much more liked it if Annie went back to work with the X`s, simply because I felt tremendously sorry for Grayer when he lost Annie. The last scene of the movie, I felt, was just not a good ending. They tried to show how all was good and well and that is all good, but I did not like the way they went about doing that.

Over all, I would give this movie an 8/10 stars. It actually holds a pretty good message and manages to tell it well. But if you are looking for a movie masterpiece, then this is not for you. It is not the best movie in the world and it holds many low points, but it is enjoyable anyways and most of the acting is good.

Russia`s Threat

Russia is considering arming its Baltic fleet with nuclear warheads for the first time since the cold war, senior military sources warned last night.

The move, in response to American plans for a missile defence shield in Europe, would heighten tensions raised by the advance of Russian forces to within 20 miles of Tbilisi, the Georgian capital, yesterday.
Under the Russian plans, nuclear warheads could be supplied to submarines, cruisers and fighter bombers of the Baltic fleet based in Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave between the European Union countries of Poland and Lithuania. A senior military source in Moscow said the fleet had suffered from underfunding since the collapse of communism. “That will change now,” said the source.

“In view of America’s determination to set up a missile defence shield in Europe, the military is reviewing all its plans to give Washington an adequate response.”
The proposal to bring back nuclear warheads was condemned by Kurt Volker, the US ambassador to Nato, who said he knew of the threat.
“It is really unfortunate that Russia chooses to react by putting nuclear warheads in different places – if indeed it does that – when the rest of the world is not looking at some kind of old-fashioned superpower conflict,” he said.
The warnings came 24 hours after Russia told Poland that it could face a nuclear strike for agreeing to let the United States station components of the missile defence shield on its soil.

Erm....not good? I mean, seriously not good! Please do not blow up Europe before I even get a fucking chance to visit! *Cries*

It`s Reviewing Time!

Well, being as I only have 8 reviews posted on the TDM Archive and that is quite pathetic, I have decided to start reviewing. Below is a list of authors whose stories will be read and reviewed. If your name is not on that list and you want it to be, then just leave me a comment and your name will be added. The task is to get all stories on the archive reviewed, but I very much doubt that will get done. And I also must say that it will probably take me a few months to get all of these reviews up :P

  • All of Kate/Nagini`s Stories

  • All of Kate/Maji`s Stories

  • All of Kylies Stories

  • All of Jess/SBSL`s Stories

  • All of Kavya`s Stories

Again, if your name is not on there and you want it to be, just leave a comment. The people listed up there were choosen simply because they are some of the authors on the archive that I very much worship and believe their stories NEED to be reviewed, so I do urge you to swing by their authors pages.

Some Footy news!

Well, it may seem as if I have totally forgotten my dear soccer lately. However, that is not so: I have been watching all the Argentinian matches (do not have time to watch any others, unless Chelsea or Manchester is playing and those have nothing to do with the Olympics :P) and I am very much proud of how things have been going: Argentina has won every game they have played so far, and their next game is against Brazil. But before we go there, let`s see some info on the past two games, those two I have not yet posted about on the blog.

Arg vs. Siberia

The result was 2-0, for Argentina of course. Quite a few players from both teams (Lavezzi, Banega and Pareja for Argentina) got cautined, while two of the Siberian players actually got expulsed from the game.

Arg vs. Netherlands

The result was 2-1 for Argentina, with four players getting cautined (Pareja and Messi for Argentina) and none getting expulsed.

On Tuesday the 19th, Argentina playes Brazil and I am extremly scared about that game. Both teams are great, both teams are obviously doing pretty damn well. There are chances we will loose, though I am praying Argentina will actually beat Brazil. However, the last time both teams played each other Argentina went in with too much confidence and lost. So what will happen now? Well, I for one will probably not get to watch the whole game, as it will be early morning for me and I will be at school doing a fucking test. Yes, i am not exactly happy over that particular prospect.

Cheers,

Drew
